LOVE LOVE!!! I just want to squeeze her thru my phone!

Finally this thread is getting more posts! Keep them coming. My son is 1/2 way through his bowling. Just started game #4 of 6. Then I guess we'll see if DH is gonna make us stop off for a little pine wood derby racing whatever... **deep breath**

thanks Peach! And if you had as many bad hatches/dead chicks as I've had you'd be showing off too! I can't tell you how good if feels to now have had 2 good hatches in a row- I was beginning to feel like such a failure @ hatching

Ya'll my bator looks like popcorn popping over here!!!!!!!! So far 4 have hatched (3 @ the same time) & 5 of the other eggs have pipped- only 1 left that has not pipped yet. This is so great! I'll take a group shot when they are all here

See and I am just the opposite. I put them in and forget to candle sometimes. The batch that went into lockdown last night I had totally forgotten about until this past Thursday. Normally I keep an incubation/hatch sheet on my eggs but this one set I forgot. I was setting eggs in the bator and had to move trays around and when I saw their tray I was like "What are these"? Thank goodness I wrote the date on all of them so I knew when they went into lockdown.
That would be a moment of sheer panic for me!!

I am extremely OCD with lists and numbers and everything.....although often I "organize" myself into a clueless mess!

Youve got the bator in a zone., what we are all aiming for ....keep it there..GREAT!!

Ok so today is grandpas birthday and he is in a nursing home for physical therapy and gets out tomorrow. But what to take him hummmm. Maybe I will go to Atwoods. Sure lets go. I found him a cute mallard duck ( plus 3 more bantams) one was hurt so I got it for free. So we get there and I sneak past one nurse then another. Wand another. Can't find grandpa. Found him. With my hand in my coat pocket I told him happy birthday and asked him if he wanted his present. He said baby you didn't have to. And I handed him his baby mallard duck. He started to tear up and just smiled holding his new baby. He said can we take it swimming in the pond tomorrow? Lol grandpa soon but maybe inside first!

So I left Atwoods with one duck and three chicks bantam. Oh my my babies need to hatch. I still have till the 7 th Aaaahhhhhhhh.
This is the sweetest thing I've heard in a long time! BUT you are NOT allowed to make me cry again OK?

Well, im using a Brinsea Mini incubator. It has a clear dome, and the silkie eggs are quite light so the air sack is pretty easy to see. All I do is hold my bright LED light up to the side of the bator & I can "candle" them without taking them out. That's all I meant by it.
I have a picture of me doing it. It's not as clear as looking in person cuz the camera picks up the light/reflection a lot. But here it is... Look close & you can see the air sack.
GENEIUS!

I use the same bator as my 'hatch bator'- I going to try this on my next lockdown!

I woke up this morning to my very first baby

She is stuck in the egg carton.. I feel like I should take her out.. If I don't see another egg with a pip would it be safe to remove her really fast?

Adam y ou should wait until she is totally dry so she doesnt get a chill. Shes fine in there for a day anyway they say longer but i like a days time max.
If its day 21 i would wait until way later today or tomorrow this time unles sehs totally fuzzy dry.
.Dont open it if you can help it or wait until you have a few in there already out and no pips. then up your humidity and grab them out fast and check humidity agian ... make sure it doesnt drop below 60. Spray warm water in if it does
Are yusure shes stuck? Might just be cozying up to the eggs. They do that.
