FEB HATCH-ALONG THREAD ...COME JOIN US.... EVERYONE!

Gap -I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. I'm having a bit of trouble with my humidity. Ive been trying several different things but haven't found the perfect nitch. My temperature is doing great...humidity tricky lil bugger!

Loving all the pics and stories. Loving that brooder! Congrats everyone!!!!

Two little chickpea hatched over night, 1 Silver Phoenix and one barnyard mix. It took them only 12 hours but they are finally here! The chicks we've had under mommas took like, 1-2 hours each to hatch. But I'm so glad my babies made it her okay. There are 6 more cracked.

I just opened the two vent holes. I know as soon as it dries it will drop drastically. That's why I had the jar ready with a tube in it, but pulled it a bit ago in panic. I would have to remove everything to get the pad out.

Leave the jar in there empty with the sponge. That way if you need to add you won't have to open the bator again.

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!

I stayed up until 3am this morning waiting for my egg #4 to hatch! Once she started zipping, it only took 20 minutes. Wow! Good job chickie doodle.

Here are a couple of pictures! The first one it just popped out & looked at the camera like "wow, you are not what I had momma pictured as." Anyways, I looked at it for about 5 minutes, figured the other chickies weren't going to start zipping anytime soon, so I went to bed. I got 4 hours of sleep and then had to get up!

Once the rest of the shell was off, I snapped another picture (looking for healthy babies... healthy legs & feet, strong necks!). This chickie looks PERFECT so far!! So happy... I sure hope it has to do with the kitchen rubber grip liner and the rest of the chickies will do so well!

Anyways, I looked at it for about 5 minutes, figured the other chickies weren't going to start zipping anytime soon, so I went to bed. I got 4 hours of sleep and then had to get up! This morning I quick added a couple drops of water through the syringe, waiting for the humidity to bump up a little and quick pulled my first chickie out and put into the brooder. The red heat lamps doesn't make for nice pictures darn it. But anyways... Yes, no slipped tendon, or splayed legs!! Very cute baby. She likes to curl up in my hand to snuggle. Awwe...

I have 4 more eggs in the incubator yet. 2 are doing really well, both with external pips now!! The third egg is still showing movement inside, but hasn't pipped yet... it just needs more time. The fourth egg (that funky #7) is doing nothing.

Come on babies!!!
It's so tiny!

I love Polish Chicks. Here is one of my new babies.

Aww, they look great. Isn't it something to see them go from a wet little scraggly thing, to the most darling little puff of fluff?

Is there any way to get the pad out and put in a sponge or washcloth under a vent hole? That way you can add water to it through a syringe if you need it. What about opening more vent holes if any are still closed?

LOL..again..I do the same. I put a sponge right under the vent hole, then use a straw and a syringe to add water. I don't use the vent covers very often. I have one bator I need to use one vent cover on. It doesn't keep the humidity up as well for some reason.
