FEB HATCH-ALONG THREAD ...COME JOIN US.... EVERYONE!

I just tracked the eggs I got off of eBay and they should be here today. How long do I let them sit before I put them in?

Ethan let the eggs sit in an egg carton FAT END UP for 12-24 hours to get to room temp. before setting them. Once they are in the bator don't start turning the eggs for 5-7 days. Read this article and you will see why. INCUBATION Since I started doing it this way I have had a lot more shipped eggs start developing and making it to hatch.

Ok so one last thing, incubator 2 smells like what a hot cup of tap water smells...nice and normal.

AND everyone would probably be happy who remembers my temp spike in incubator 3 a few days ago....I almost tossed the whole dozen....

EIGHT of them are fine!!!!! Wow!!! I love this new light!!!!

Wow, so much has been going on. Glad you found & got rid of #9 & I hope your last one hatches.

I'm sorry about your hatch

. My hatch was no better... Only 4 out, MAYBE 1 more (pipped and is progressing a little bit) out of 18 eggs. Although I think I now know what I need to change for next time

Horse pellet bedding is THE BEST for chicks. I did it last year and only removed a little bit here and there... I think I used less than one bag, and it never smelled too terrible either!

Thanks Tarheel I don't get it. But something is clearly off bc the ones that DID hatch look like you wiped them with hair gel, (fresh born) but dried off the same look. No fluffing at all??

Like my Crispy! That's the goop I was talking about. I've had many chicks with it, I call it gobbldy goop. My DH has learned a new word in our home, and he knows exactly what I'm talking about. :D
My Crispy has been washed, and is now in with the others. She..is doing soo well. VERY active. I didn't think that chick was going to make it through that first night. Sure did!
