February 2017 Hatch-a-long

Tried to clean up the run and take measurements but that didn't go well each time I tried to take up a pile the hens would run behind me and spread it out everywhere they had a blast and I lost that battle!!

Yeah, cleaning up pens still inhibited by the residents can sometimes be a bit counterproductive. Lol

They are a lot faster and a lot more energetic than I was and they spread it out faster than I could take it in my wife just laughed at me. Lol guess I'll have to sneak in at night but then the roosters I have now will Flogg me lol

When I'm cleaning out the coop there are always a few hens that need to lay their egg, so they come in and try to nest in my piles. :th Sooo annoying!

Usually my mean rooster is more mellow at night than during the day...:idunno

I lost my Roos in January to dogs and now have 3 Americana Roos that every time I come out to the coop at night they come out to protect the hens love the protection tbey give

Well I'm happy that they protect the coop like that they still need to know my sounds and get used to me but that will come they are very devoted to the hens lol

Yes, protective roosters are a blessing, hopefully you are on your way to friendly and protective when need be.
