That is too bad.

The 3 front ones went into lock down different incubator on Sun. (I didn't have a date marked just guessing)
I candled and the blue one to the front middle was in the air cell, the other 2 to the front were hard to see into, but were not ready for lockdown, I had to put them back in this incubator. I hope I did not wreck the 2. The middle group go to lock down on 17. I don't think the 2 dark ones to the front will have to wait that long, but we will see.

I don't think it matters too much to be honest as long as you don't turn them.

So…had a terrible accident yesterday. My son decided he was going to climb up to where the incubator was to get the flashlight. And ALL the eggs and incubator went on the floor. It was awful! I lost so many. I couldn’t be mad at my son because he is only 2. I was able to save a couple that had cracks on them. Others that didn’t have cracks still didn’t survive because of the fall itself. It’s more heartbreaking because they were ALL doing so well. I only had 2 of the 20 that were questionable. One turned out to not be fertilized and the other I just couldn’t make up my mind on. There was one that for sure wouldn’t have made it because, turns out there was twins in it. I’m down to maybe 5 Cemani eggs and even though I’m still trying to decide on my Cochins, I believe I only have about 3 of them little ones left. Live and learn I guess. A lot of that going on for me this year. But my wonderful husband ordered more for me. We asked that she ship them next Tuesday because by the time they get here and rest these little guys should be hatching. Fingers crossed that this fall didn’t seal their doom and it is just taking time.

Oh noooo, that is just so sad. I’m so sorry! I hope the surviving eggs make it That is one of those nightmares I have about incubation. Cats, dogs, children, so many things in this house that could accidentally do something like that. Fingers crossed for you!

It was a worry of mine too. I kept it in my room so it wasn’t something that could be easily knocked over in the kitchen. I tried to keep the flashlight out of sight but he must have seen me put it there and just knew. He came down to show me the flashlight and I just took it from him and went to put it back and there it was. He doesn’t even know what he did. The lock on our door is broken (old house and doors with old handles), but we are going to be installing a deadbolt on that door now. We can’t keep it downstairs either because of the dogs.

I have to lock the room with my incubators and brooder because I also have a son obsessed with flashlights, machines, eggs, and chicks he’s ok with chicks but I don’t trust him at all around the incubators/unhatched eggs. He loves candling eggs with me, but I have to lock the room after so he doesn’t go back in when I’m not looking!

That’s very smart! Little ones and their curiosity and singular focus can be very destructive!
