This is day 16 and this egg seems a little clear on one side....I can see the chick moving around in there but the other eggs all have dark all the way through. Is this chick going to be ok? It's kind of hard to see in the pic.

They’re so cute!!! It almost looks like a splash chick…Does the breeder sell blue/black/splash? Or do they just advertise black?

There’s an australorp breeder on OLX that I wanted to order from because he has a BBS flock. I ordered my Bresse eggs from him last year, so I know he packs well and sells good eggs. I really want splash babies because they’re so beautiful! But I would probably only end up with a couple splash and too many blue and black that I would have to sell…or eat

Don't recommend though due to low fertility and well, not the eggs I ordered. She has blue ones in the photo, too so I guess those eggs were from them. No splash.
Both chicks are so light in terms of colour. The one that hatched at night has a dark spot on the head but I have no clue if it means anything

It does look rather clear but that may just mean the membrane has pulled away from the shell when most don’t. I see veins and you said baby is moving. I’d keep an eye on it but it probably will be okay. Don’t give up on it!

They do look splash! If they have a blue rooster and blue hen then splash is totally possible. Splash is just the prettiest coloring! How fun!

I only ordered from him once (so far) - 15 Bresse, and he gave me 5 mystery extras. 13/15 Bresse hatched, 2/5 mystery hatched (two beautiful paint naked neck pullets) I thought that was great for shipped eggs AND my first ever hatch, honestly. Everything was fertilized except for 1, and there were a couple quitters along the way…

I would order from him again because Bresse and australorp are really great dual purpose, but I have brain worms and I’m obsessed with colored layers …for now

So, I decided to cull the poor deformed marans. Not only did it have scissor beak, it also had NO EYES I’m guessing that breeder’s flock is inbred? Because…yikes.
FINAL TALLY:

10/10 hatched from first batch of local mixed layer “fridge eggs”, 9 final chick count, 1 cull due to slipped tendons

5/5 hatched from 2nd batch of mixed layers, 5(4) healthy chicks (one might be a cull if I can’t fix splayed legs)

Shipped eggs 4/15 hatched:
1/5 blue copper marans eggs hatched
2/5 legbar eggs hatched
1/5 Araucana eggs hatched

Pretty bad shipped egg hatch rate this time…but at least I have THREE healthy chipmunk chicks!!

Well, shipped eggs are always a risk but these are shocking results especially compared to your non-shipped eggs . Did you get them delivered by Pocztex? I had 2/10 in the past when I ordered leghorn eggs via courier. Luckily they were both pullets

Yes, I order all eggs with Pocztex 24 “ostrożnie”. They were all from the same breeder- his packing wasn’t great, he might have inbred flocks or lazy roosters…because CLEARLY my friend’s Sussex rooster is very hard-working! 100% fertilized (all the mixed babies are Rosa x Sussex or perhaps Rosa x Rosa for the black chicks )

Buying eggs online is my version of gambling. Win some, lose some, try to have a little fun!

Last lot of eggs in lockdown, one pipped.
One of the 4 muscovy eggs has also hatched, another internally pipped. sadly two look like they quit. so 1 maybe 2 ducklings out of 2 dozen eggs
