Great, thanks!
I actually candled a few yesterday (newbie curiosity got the best of me), and two were already veining! One of which has constantly held a higher temp than the other eggs. I'm curious if the higher temp is causing accelerated growth, or if accelerated growth is causing higher temps? I've moved it around in the incubator (thinking it had been in a "hot spot"), but it still reads higher than the others?
Also, to add: all the eggs were from a local farmer and were less than 8 hours old (he collected eggs the night before I came, and I collected mine myself in the morning). So, there's no chance it was already developing under a broody or something like that...

Not sure about the temperature thing. It is a good idea to move em around when you candle just in case there is a hot spot. I've done several hatches and curiosity still gets the best of me. It's always the longest 21 days.

It is a lllooonnggg 21 days. It has been 5days for me and it seems like they should be hatching already.

I set up a second bator Friday evening cause I collected more eggs than I planned. It finally stabilized last night. I don't think the few days with low temps hurt them. I had to add water this morning. I'd like to add more of my eggs this weekend after I candle and remove any duds. It helps me find any issues of infertility in my flock since I normally sell all my eggs.

Well, Here is my February madness:

1/17 set for 2/7 hatch:

26 Eggs of Cream Crested Legbar, Olive Egger & Black copper maran mix
14 Belgium Quail D'Anver
6 Spangled Hamburg

Set 1/24 due 2/14/15 hatch:
8 Ameraucana
30 CCL, OE, BCM
14 Barnyard mix of Bantam black orpington, wheaten sulmater, sulmtaler/leghorn cross, white leghorn, New Hampshire
6 Black Copper Marans
6 Blue Isbars
8 Svart Hona

Total of 118 eggs.

All are from shipped eggs. Many suffered air sac damage and show no development. However, I hold out hope for all!

I am enjoying my beautiful sizzles I got from you! They are too cute! :)

I wasn't surprised to see you on here, purpletie3. I noticed you were winning auctions left and right on the auction page! Good luck with your hatches! With such a mix, I'd love to hear your observations on packing, distance, and air cell quality!

Good luck Purpletie3, that's a bunch. Hope yours goes better than the forty something shipped eggs I set for the Christmas hatch :)
