I have 44 eggs in the bator As we speak. They are Blue Lace Red Wyandotts and Blue wheathon . They came in from the cold north but I sure hope they hatch. I'll find out about the middle of Feb.

I did some candleing last night of my 60 double stacked eggs. There are looking good.

May have 5 that are infertile, but will wait till Feb 5, for the 10 day mark just to be sure.

Getting excited for the first batch of fluffy butts.

Help?

Today was the day I set my eggs. I had my incubator going for 48hrs before hand. Temp perfect, humidity a stable 45 to 50% ALL I did today was add the eggs and 6hrs later my humidity is 60%

Should I try lowering it? Or let it be tonight and see if it stables back out tomorrow?
If there are plugs, take them out. It will help lower the humidity if it still too high.

Just did my day 7 candle. All the cochins were clears (I left them in just in case) - makes me sad because I was excited about the laced cochins. I think I have a few Welsummers, but the eggs were so dark that I wasn't sure. I have 10 out of 12 D'anvers - very happy!

sorry about your clears... :( Were they your own eggs? Best of luck with the others!

Question, Should I open all the vents in my incubator during lock down? right now I have one open that I kept open throughout.
I keep my vents open and just watch the humidity closely. Chicks use a lot of air when they hatch, so closing the vents can sometimes reduce the amount of oxygen enough to effect their health. I have done it both ways, and leaving the vents open does seem to make a difference.
