1St hatch complete... 18/23 hatched that made it to lockdown... 1 Piped and went no further, two never piped but showed life on day 18 and 2 more looks to have died days 17-19

All in all I am happy but a bit disappointed, I realized with this hatch my fertility rates were low, solved the problem and the last two weeks I have only found one infertile egg, 2nd incubator on day 3.. Hatch day is Feb 25th so I am still within the Feb hatch-a-long :) These eggs are from another farm so not sure on the fertility rates. Cleaning out the done incubator tomorrow and getting ready to set my first batch of Turkey eggs hopefully next Friday.. Let the fun begin!

Anyways, enough, here are the chicks!! My hens are covered by a blue Orpington and a blue Orpington/EE mix.. Made for some interesting colors, one I am particularly in awe of is a silver almost metallic colored chick.. My daughter wants to keep it but alas, this set is already sold

Nice looking bunch of peeps!

Here's the four BLRW chicks...you can tell who's the straggler.
I've never hatched any of these before. Does anyone know if they'll be blue, black or splash?

Well there they be :) day 1 woot!

Question though... It seems so bright (compared to under mama hen), should I do something about that or it's fine?

They aren't bothered by the light, and they will get breaks from it as the thermostat turns the light on and off to control the temperature.
You will come to love that light in the middle of the night when you are up, but barely awake, to turn eggs on schedule!!

Happy hatching!!!!!!

Soooo cute! I hope that straggler perks up! I'm not familiar with BLRW, but I'd imagine it's a little too soon to tell. I'd guess once their feathers start to come in you'd be able to get a good idea.
