Here are my babies so far. All 4 of my eggs that I put in the bator made it to lockdown, and 3 hatched with no problems (the 3 yellow chicks). The 4th is still in there, but pipped at the wrong end. I tried to help it by turning the pipped end up and opening a tiny hole for its beak. So we'll see what it does. I got 9 other eggs from a local person, but only 4 made it to lockdown. Of those, 1 is the buff chick (ee mix), 1 hatched with a massive prolapse, and 2 eggs are still in the bator. The one with the prolapse had no chance. It had intestines and more hanging out, so I put it out of it's misery.

I've never had to do that before.

I am so sorry about your little chick.... :( You have some adorable ones there!

First few are Bama's Best...they all hatched.

Next guys are my SoNew crew...cute as can be!

I still have two groups in the cabinet and some of Sonew 's eggs that haven't hatched out now in the Hovabator.

I am very very pleased with this hatch!

I love seeing all these chicks!

Day 16 here. I'm pretty sure I'm 3 for 5 in the incubator (started with 8 but 3 were infertile). I actually saw movement in an egg I thought quit, so that is very exciting. My broody is 3 for 3. I'm setting up the dog cage maternity ward inside for her today. Her cage in the coop is taking up too much space. A giant fight erupted yesterday with some bloodshed (everyone is fine) and cracked eggs. The limited space and cold is just too much for my other girls. Plus this is my broody's first hatch so I want to keep an eye on her.

Aweosme!! Hope things go well with you!

Hello everyone! I currently have 16 eggs in my dishwaherbator. This is my first time trying it and my second time hatching. Feb. 8th was day 1 and feb 28th is my hatch day.I began with 18 eggs: 2 buckeyes, 2 chanteclers, 3 welsummer roo over EE hen, 1 welsummer roo over RSL hen, and the test are welsummer roo over the possible hens blue orp, Buff orp, Andalusian, rsl's or speckled Sussex.
The 2 infertiles were from the above mixes. I have one mix I'm not sure about and one RSL that I can't see into so I have no clue on that one.
Good luck to every one and happy hatching.

Day 15, candled and 24 of the 42 were not developing. Not a single brown or green egg will make it to lockdown. I'm not sure if they froze before I gathered them (it is very cold here) or if the roster decided he only wanted to breed the 3 White Leghorn.

Disappointed at the moment since I was hoping for more RIR hybrids, but I'll try again in a few weeks once this hatch is over.

Is there such a thing as a brooder that is too big? I guess it depends on how many chicks, but I turned a 50gal rubber maid bin into a brooder, will have a hot plate in it from premier, and I cut a window in the side and put in hardware cloth so I can see them more easily without looming over them. Max number of chicks I could have hatch Tues would be 6, with another hopeful in a week and another 8 or so in 16 days... Expecting fewer but ever hopeful!!

Should I block off half the brooder at first tho'? I didn't expect it to be so big, I was really worried about not enough space, but the thing looks HUGE empty, even with the hot plate and feeder/waterer in there. Will put in a few baby perches but it's still going to be a lot of floor space for those little legs. Don't want a chick to get 'lost' too far from the hot plate.
