Hi all,

Well here's the final update.

First I can't count. Seller sent 16 eggs not 14. For some reason I kept thinking I ordered 10 and got 4 extra but it was 12 with 4 extras,

Frizzled cochin eggs 16 to start with
Day 24: 11 hatched
jumpy.gif

1 dead in shell (upside down)
1 set of twins that almost made it. It looks like they quit the day before hatching as the yolk was almost completely absorbed.
1 with badly deformed head-didn't hatch
1 clear
1 dead- looked OK but still dead in shell

Silky eggs are in lock down

Silkies 12 eggs due on March 3rd

This was fun and the 11 babies are doing well so I am very pleased. I enjoyed reading all the posts and will be moving to March thread. Great babies. Good luck all.

February was such a fun month to share with all of you. Congratulations on all of the beautiful little chickies. There were soooooo many "hatches," great comments & pictures From incubatoring to under broody hens, each persons methods were shared. I hope to find a good, dependable "broody" in my flock someday soon & enjoy that experience also. It was nice to see that children were joining in on the fun too, it's all so amazing to them & inspires them to enjoy the process of life more. Heck, it still amazes me! The incredable, amazing egg!!!!!!

Thanks to everyone for sharing the ups & downs of hatching, there is always something to be learned. It was good to see others "chime in" to help. One can never have too many "hatching buddies."

For more fun in March, join us on 'MARCH HATCH-A-LONG come join in' https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=297055&p=1 . Look for one every month this year, just change the month in your search.
