FEBRUARY Hatch-A-Long, come join in!!

I hear peeping, but I don't see any pips or anything...

I think next time, I'm not going to let them hatch in their little cut-down paper egg cartons. Next time, I'm just going to put the eggs directly on the no-skid stuff I put in the bator and let them just hatch that way. They are in the paper cartons and they look like they're having such a hard time. I've got one that's not quite out yet, and we're about 42 hours since it first pipped. He's coming out though, slowly but surely.

I better quit calling them "he". I want them ALL to be pullets so I can keep 'em! Hehehe. I know, not likely, but a girl can wish!

I'm trying the cut down paper egg carton method for the first time. I hate seeing them roll all over the place when I just lay them on their sides. I'm pretty sure that's why some of mine died last time. I hear peeping, but I don't see any pips. I hope one didn't pip incorrectly, making it stuck upside down trying to get out in the egg carton... who knows.
I'm interested to see how this method works for me.

Thanks, I cannot believe How close I got to the chick in such a short amount of time. It was so tame already. Poor thing never experienced natural sunlight !

BUT, I am more determined for a good hatch next time

I am going to put the incubator in my room next time to keep a better eye on everything.

Cute chick BTW!!!!

We have hatched 1 sebright, and 2 more are neck-and-neck in competition for 2nd place! The EE egg that is half-zipped is still alive--didn't see anything for the longest time, but I shined the flashlight on it & it moved--didn't like the light! Another egg has zipped toward the back of the bator & I can't see it, just know it's doing something because of shell remnants below it. The 4th sebright egg has shown no activity at all since lockdown, but today is day 21 so we have plenty of time. A lot has happened in there since we got up this morning, and I'm anticipating this won't be over until well into Valentine's Day or so. This is, indeed, a really good day.
