I lost caraxes yesterday to predator
It's so sad and heart breaking but regardless we move on

Now left with just his sister behind him

Is this thread exclusively for chicks you've hatched yourself? Im about to get some chicks in a couple weeks. My first time with babies. Ive always bought 6 week olds before.

Nope, as long as they are day olds or close enough to it you can join this- I'll be getting ducks soon and it will be my first time with ducks, and I wont be hatching them myself, ill be picking them up.

Oh good because i need this thread. Im so worried im gonna do something wrong to these little ones. Ship date for the day old chicks is march 14th. Feed store says they should be there about 2 days later. Im planning on getting welsummers. 6 pullets and a roo but if im not there before they sell out i will get whatevers available. Although i have my heart set on a roo this year. If i get one ( they are only getting 5 welsummer roos and 50 pullets. Indont remember what the other breeds are for that date) i may try hatching in 2 years. Ive kept laying hens for 5 years now.

Well I have decided I have at least two that are male. Possibly one more that’s a Polish and a question on my mottled houdan.
My buff Orpington and jersey giant I suspected have been consistently squaring off in little mini battles. Nothing serious but enough to give me confirmation that they are likely going to be Roos. I’ll try and get some pics of everyone tonight.
