I woke up at 3 a.m. (sleep is over-rated when hatching chicks

) 3 chicks! Yay! Now it's after 6 & I think I see a wee crack in another egg. Hurray, its day 21!!!

Yes, sleeping past 5 am these last few days has been a luxury!! LOL.. Up and head strait to the hatch room as its now called, no outer pips yet, humidity was down so heated up some water and since I opened the incubator to add it decided to test a few eggs, out of the five I candled 2 had pipped the air cell!!

Going to be a long day today... Good thing DH and daughter are both out of here early, I will make an idiot of myself and that's best done alone

I'm sorry for those who had failed hatches. My first attempt was like that. I lost 6 fully formed chicks. I think I over-humidified at the end.
Since then I've had many successful attempts.

Good luck to those of you with chicks hatching today! I want to see pictures!

I have 6 days to go! I started with 12. 2 were clear, 1 quit very early, 8 look good. 1 is questionable. (I can see strange dark blobs when I candle it. None of the others look like that.)

I'll be happy if I get at least 2 or 3 girls out of this batch.

I had 4 of the 18 shipped eggs hatched-one white silkie, two WD, and 1 EE. I had 2 hatch of my 4 that I set. Both mutts.

I have a pip!!! one of my eggs from the EE rooster crossed with the Ancona hen!!! cant wait to see what they produce!! so it begins!!

One of my chicks has been trying to hatch for well over 24 houts now...has a good size hole kn shell...but its just panting in there....is ok if its panting?

I have 3 healthy chicks out, but one is done zipping & can't seem to make that final push to free itself. Oy! Such drama here!

7 eggs not pipped. I suspect they won't make it.

Today is day 22, I have 11 chicks out now (18 went into lockdown) 7 are in brooder, 4 fluffing in the incubator, another that is almost out of it's shell, and one more external pip. two more with cracks on the outside of the shell, no pip yet, so 5 still really waiting on, but i'm hopeful! will post pics soon!!!

Well I lost another chick overnight(Im starting to think there might be an underlying problem) 22eggs to 19eggs to 17 hatched to 13 living on day5-6...
