Chicks are 5-6 weeks old and are almost done with their chick feed.
Are they old enough for feed, grit, oyster shell?
As for grit, what is necessary? I have a good sandbank on the property, and their pen is mostly dirt/sand is this ok or do I need to buy something? Thank you!
Love this forum.

Starter, Starter-Grower, Start & Grow 18 to 20% can be fed till they start laying, around 18 weeks.
Some Starter feeds say switch to a Grower feed at 6 to 8 weeks till 18 weeks or onset of lay. Look for directions on the Chick feed bag
Oyster Shells should not be offered till 16 weeks old in a separate container.

If they have access to rocky soil or a sandbank with Grit averaging sizes like these.
Chick Grit is good, up to 8 to 10 weeks old.

I offer Poultry Grit after 7 weeks old in a separate container.
