Feed Cornish X Rocks 24/7 ?

I started taking their food away at night after they were close to 2 weeks old. They turned into a completely different bird (for the better) Instead of laying around and panting they were running to greet me by the door for the feed.

We use to raise this type years ago and never heard about taking the food away and we use to have lots of lame ones, big callouses on the chest and ones just dropped over from heart attacks.

I figured it would slow their growth down but nearly half are 10 pounds and just turned 8 weeks so I guess I can't complain about that. (We've had an amazingly cold June until recently, that probably helped them a lot.)

Lately now that we're having some hot spells I've been living the feed out 24 hours cause I know they probably aren't eating as much during the hot days. They get to go outside in the evening and they even sort of run a bit (a few feet and then sit down) But they certainly do need a fan this time of the year. At first they were afraid of it now they crowd a bit too much in front of it.

I've always given mine feed 24/7. But as I've pointed out before, mine actually go to sleep at night (outside in the tractor). If yours get light 24/7 (artificial or otherwise), maybe that won't work for you.
