My mama duck just had ducklings. She generally forages for food - we have several acres and a pond - and I supplement with a little bird seed daily. She just had ducklings. Can the ducklings have bird seed with a little brewer's yeast mixed in? I expect they'll probably start foraging with their mama when they are old enough, but I want to make sure they are getting enough niacin.

TIA

Bird seed is not nutritionaly complete. But better then starving.
They have 5 acres and a pond (including a garden with multiple greens and fruit and flowers). They aren't even close to unhealthy or starving. The bird seed is just to keep them coming home at night. When I give them duck food, it just goes bad unless it's in the winter when that's their primary diet.

They need feed for poultry or water fowl why don’t you feed your ducks anything but bird seed? Especially ducklings they need a good start. What breed?
They forage (they have 5 acres and a pond, including a garden with multiple greens, flowers, and fruit). The bird seed is just a treat to keep them coming home at night so I can put them up. She's a Khaki and the dad is a Mallard. In the winter they get a proper diet, but in the summer, if I put out duck food it just goes bad because they won't eat it. They have 5 acres and a pond and are quite healthy. I'm just concerned right now for the little ones.
