Hello! I'm new to raising quail. I've read all the different articles and everything is going good so far. However there is one thing I'm having trouble with, adult feed.
I'm only able to find either game bird feed with 14-18% protein (too low) or starter which is 30% (too high). Do I just need to mix them 50/50? Thanks!

If you mix and 18% with the 30% a 50/50 mix will give you a 24% protein amount. That sounds reasonable. Just make sure to give them oyster or egg shells on the side for calcium and that the lysine and methionine levels are good.

Thanks so much! I read a bunch of your answers about quail on here, it's helped me a ton 😊

Also take a look at turkey feed, all flock type feed, and even high protein layer feed at various local feed stores, elevators, and farm supply outlets. We’re very rural here and it was a search but I found something that fits their nutrition profile, doesn’t cost a fortune, works well for my birds, and is readily available. One feed guy I talked to was eager to sell me something that might work but was medicated but I could get some non medicated stuff if I ordered two tons, which is a little much for two dozen quail! It is an adventure, good luck!

Yeah there's not a ton of stuff local to us. We have both layers and meat birds so we are hoping to have a nice amount but I know mice would get to the feed if we go in bulk.
I have celadon simply because I love blue eggs and my brother has Jumbo for meat.
