Feed for new layers

I have 5 chickens: 2 Austroloprs, 2 Buff Orp, 1 Sex Linked

Just starting laying eggs (have 2 so far, yeah!)

Currently using Start & Grow feed (just opened a new bag).

Should I switch to Layena now? or when more are laying?

Can I mix with the Start & Grow or just get rid of the old and switch 100% to Layena?

You should start feeding layer feed now and yeah it won't hurt to mix what remains of your other feed, so as not to waste it and help the birds used to the new feed. I always start feeding layer feed a few weeks before I think they will lay.

I would just finish off the bag of starter/grower and offer oyster shell free choice for the layers. They will all try it at first but not to worry... won't hurt them.

if you want healthier chickens , quality birds w/excellent feathers , happy chickens , a longer quality life for them , more eggs - continuing to lay plenty of eggs even as the years roll by ...... I would continue to let them eat a quality starter or starter/grower along with quality laling pellets , plus free choice oyster shells & granite grit .

Another option might be that you wanted to feed a whole grain/seed mix along with starter .

Couple other things that's very important for your birds: production , good life and superior health is where they live ......... They can do well in a pen that's built correctly , large enough , IN the SHADE , has sheets of tin around bottom (buried about 12" deep in the ground and 3 ft. tall or more) this prevents anything from getting in or getting a hold of your birds thru wire . Also have about 12" up to knee deep of oatstraw, hay , pine straw , leaves , lawn clippings , corn shucks and anything else like that you can get covering the entire pen flooring .

The other place of quality living for them is free range (just can't beat it )
