Feed for quail...

Thanks i will see if they can keep a min in stock.
I finally got them to contact the suppliers to order it in... getting to talk to someone that would do it was impossible. Still waiting on the call to say they did order it. -_-

Be aware that the purina game/turkey starter comes in the same bag as the chow growth/plumage, but the actual contents will be on the small white label. Look for protein ~30% or something on that label.

Thanks!
I saw they all come in the same bag so i knew i was going to have to do some investigating to make sure i get what i ordered. But glad you told m where!!
I wish i could just order it from purina :hmm would make it so much easier... they would problably make more money too with all us quail people lol

What do you use as hiding spots? I herd people putting pine trees and such in there but would like to plant bushes and stuff that wont hurt them and that they like.
I know rock caves amd such just curious on plants.

Right now I don't have much foliage in there. I did have nandina bushes in large pots, but once they started getting the red berries I did some research and found they are poisonous to birds so I removed them for the time being. They hang out under them the rest of the year, so I may just remove the berry stems and put them back in. Next year I'm going to try to grow gooseberry or huckleberry, or something that will bush out but also be non-toxic/tasty to them. My nasturtium did great last year so I may put that in for them as well, since every part of it is edible and I won't have to worry about that. I do also have bees and they love those flowers, so I'll have to determine if the bees might bother the quail before doing that.

They have the base of a square dog house that I fill with shavings/sand and put sideways in the corner so they can go around/behind/in it but it makes more of a maze than open ground. I throw loose hay in there sometimes and they love that.

Has anyone tried H and H Feed out of Texas?

https://handhfeed.com

They have...
H and H Soy Free, Corn Free, Non-GMO GAME BIRD CRUMBLE with Organic Fertrell Nutri-Balancer! 28% Protein

Mail order...

20# $37.75 includes shipping
4 X 20# $141.00 includes shipping
50# $78.00 includes shipping

I am just getting started on my quail adventure and am trying to round up a reliable feed source. This sounds good enough to me. I pay $33.99 for 25# from Scratch and Peck for my chickens, so this sounds like a bargain. Opinions?
