Feed in morning or night?

I have 13 free range hens. Should I feed their pellets in the morning or night, or half in morning and half at night? Free choice is not an option because the dog eats the chicken food and gets sick

I would think you should feed them in the morning and again in the afternoon.

Since hens tend to lay eggs in the morning or afternoon, the earlier you can give them their food, the better. In the winter time, you can spread out feeding times to give the chickens something to do. Also, in the winter, if you feed them some food in the evening, it will sit in their crop and keep them warmer as they sleep.
