Feed lifting ideas? Lol.

Okay… so I’m experimenting with different things to see if the chicks can spill out the feed. I tried an old brick from my garage. Thoughts?
 
I have my husband make me blocks out of scrap boards. Usually they are 4x4”x2” or 6”x6”x2” pieces and I sand the edges. I find anything higher can be almost too high for the first 2 weeks. However, no matter what you use chicks will find a way to spill feed. On a side note and something to watch out for with bricks is that the corners can be very sharp. I watched a horse cut their fetlock slicing through the tendons on the corner of a brick and the horse had to be put down. My father in law almost had to get stitches helping my husband move bricks from slicing his hand off of the corner. Before watching that horse cu
 
I attached a wire shelf (you know, the white ones for closets) at the top of the brooder and hang things from it. It only juts out for about the back 1/4 of the space, so still easy to reach the whole floor. After a week, only picked 3 pieces of bedding out of the water!!
