What would be the best feed to give to my laying chickens for there overall health and for the best tasting eggs.

In general, you just want to give them layer feed. The brands available depend on your area.

I'm pretty new to this whole thing, but my personal opinion is that a locally-milled feed is probably fresher and ground up grains tend to go rancid pretty quickly. (This is true for flour we eat too, btw.) I would choose a local non-organic food over a national organic food (and do, in fact, it's also cheaper). But more importantly to me is the opportunity for the chickens to free range and have access to grass and bugs and fresh air. That isn't doable for everyone but I think it's definitely important if it will work where you live.

I have feed mine both layer crumble , and layer mash from the feed mill, and the both work the same for egg flavor and taste, but there is more waste with mash cause its ground finer and has more powder than the crumble
