~65,000 sq ft -- figure 100 sq ft per tractor x 12 tractors. Moving them every day with zero wasted space might get them to 8 weeks on fresh pasture. Most people that raise 800 birds at once are way past the casual flock keeper - I don't know how that pasture will be turned around ready for the next bunch, thus my original question. I don't see how the birds can be kept on fresh grass with that amount of space.
My 63 birds per tractor is a rough est. I also keep some hens out there approx 100 - 120 last I counted that are about 30 - 40 per tractor and I keep 4 for them, but they all free range within a section that is already fenced off. And some of these tractors have more at night and some have none. All denpends on how this pile in at night.
I am not raising all cornish x either. I am raising mainly naked necks and rangers. So to be fair even though the numbers work out to 63 per tractor in total the cornish x stay in their tractors and don't come out. Just get moved to fresh spot every day. All the other birds are still young. 4 weeks old. But as soon as I get my netting other eletric netting over there the naked necks and rangers will be let out to range. There are 4 roosts in every tractor that is 8 ft long and 18 inches off the ground now except for the tractors with the cornish x. There are currently 3 tractors with cornish x. And I just started moving all tractors daily. Up until now I was only moving every other day and that is also because we have had some really bad storms and spent a good 4 hours the other night until 1am getting them up to high ground because the bank of the river flooded over into 1/3 of the pasture.
When all is said and done I will have raised for Thankgiving 20 BBB, 175 naked necks, 100 rangers and 180 cornish x. This is my second batch of the season. The pasture had 4+ minimum on the very last spot I had before these went on. The place where I started had about 6 weeks of recover and been cut 2 times before the new ones arrived.
I also started raising my first batch of birds back in March and processed them 4 weeks ago.
