Feed storage in roof of coop?

    Ok, I was kicking around an idea of creating a sort of attic in my coop that can be filled with feed that will empty down into a PVC tube feeder.

    I haven't started the coop yet. It'll be a raised 4x4. Probably a slanted roof that I could lift and fill with feed.

    What you might want to build is a LOFT, or a partial attic, so that you can easily access it. It IS always easier to have the food in the same building as the animals. I want pics and plans when you build!! [​IMG]

    Only thing I would be concerned about is how to keep bugs and mice out of the feed.

    Don't most of the breeds of chickens EAT bugs and mice? Mine (4 months old) are groovin' on June Bugs, and mealworms right now.
