Feed store said scratch or starter is fine for adults?

I was wondering about what to feed mine. I was told scratch was good. Hmmmm. I have 4 month old Red Pyles. One rooster and two hens. So I need to go and get different feed for them. Is it ok to put hay down for them to walk on and lay in or no?

Hay is fine.

Scratch is basically potato chips and candy for chickens. They love eating it, but nutritionally it isn't as sound of a diet as a mixed feed.

Great thread ya'll. I appreciate everyone's inputs!!! Feel bad for the girls cause they've been on scratch for a week now. Got some Layena pellets. Read a lot...A LOT of other threads about what everyone likes. Some have had great results, and some not so much. Hopefully I'll be in the great results category.

I'll see how they do for a week and let ya'll know. So far though, we've gotten 8 eggs this week

That's after moving them from their home of 2 years...I guess that's pretty good!!
