Feed Store vs McMurrays Hatchery chicks

Our local feed store orders their chicks from a hatchery. I'd recommend eliminating the middle man and ordering straight from a hatchery as well. We ordered ours from McMurray. They have a 25-chick minimum. There are others that have a 3-chick and 15-chick minimum.

I second the not worrying about meaties crowing--if you're getting cornish cross, you process them at eight weeks or so, they're not thinking about crowing (usually) by then.

I bought my original flock from a local breeder about 10 miles from my farm. They are great layers & a freind had a Roo that looked just like the girls. So, I got him he's the same age as the girls. Bought a bator & now have my own breed going. I guess thats how it works. Think I'll call them Texas Reds.
