feed taxes

Is chicken food taxable? That probably varies by state, I live in GA. Sometimes I am charged tax when I buy it, sometimes I am not. On the TSC receipt, sometimes it says "livestock feed not taxable by state."

Today I bought a sack of feed at a new grocery store, and they insisted on charging tax. So I'm confused. If you don't know, who would I call to find out? Thanks!

I would thing the Georgia Department of AG would be able to tell you. Or the Department of Revenue.
