I think this whole conspiracy "theory" took root because of the initial rush of brand new pandemic chicken owners from 2020-2022, who might only have one or two winters under their belts. So these folks have chickens who were in their laying prime, starting to feel their age and really slow down for the first time this winter. They just don't have the experience and knowledge (yet) to protect themselves from these predatory individuals who are monetizing easily debunked conspiracy "theories."

I think that is a lot of it, but that doesn't explain all the personal anecdotes I've read.

I have seen posts from several different people who say they've had chickens for many years, but that this winter the chickens stopped laying in a way that has not happened before.

So it appears there have been actual changes in the laying of some chickens, beyond what is normal in most years.

What caused the problems is a different question-- whether it was feed, or weather, or stress, or keeping different breeds than before, or caring for them differently, or many other possibilities. I think it's most likely that some flocks had different causes than other flocks, so there is no one single cause, although I don't have any proof of that.

So true! I found the sweetest, mom & pop shop, when I left TSC (for a reason that actually had nothing to do with feed). And I'm so happy to have found them.

I've realized They are always so much more personable than the big box stores.
Plus you are helping a Family pay bills and things for families not making the rich richer.
I was looking for local before all this anyway so it worked out anyway. All these years with chickens I've learned to stay away from the Rude know everything type people. I prefer to surround myself with kindness.

Exactly the ones who are ruse and immature about it are the reason there is such division. Just agree/disagree and move on. It's not hurting anyone to feel/think differently.
If anything It's giving local business to local mills instead of big corporations. That is the big plus side to it all.

The problem is they will go to extremes if they aren't given their own medicine. Bullies hate it when their victims throw back, but only way to get them to stop is return the medicine.

Sorry I gotten enough bull in my life, if you gonna insult me I'm gonna return it ten fold I take pride when I enrage someone enough they tell me to unalive myself because that means they lost their ground and got nothing else.

When they throw the personal attacks first, they better not be shocked if the favor is returned people act all big and bad online, if they can't handle it being dish back they shouldn't dish it first.

I grew up with don't start the fight, but definitely finish it if they do. More people need that mindset and less of the woest me I'm the victim.

I think that shows the person's character and ugly soul when they say they will hope ill will or will unalive someone just because of difference of opinion.
When people get ugly or aggressive i just stop reply and move on with my day. Just ignoring them is better for your soul and happiness.
As some people say "Just scroll on" I mean obviously bo one is perfect and we all have our shortcomings but I try my best to just ignore the hate and move on with my day to forget about it. I have enough going on in my life than to worry about what others think of me. Something I've learned in the last 3yrs is people can be brutal if you don't agree 100% with them so I just learn to disagree and move on.

It's a divisive topic, there's no way around that. I'd have to disagree with you, IMO it is hurting people. It hurts our entire country to constantly, en masse, be leveling wild, most often false, accusations at every little perceived problem or issue that arises.

I think the posters here have shown decent restraint, considering many of us have been biting our tongues nearly in half for a month now. A little snark seeping out here and there is to be expected, just people blowing off a little steam.
