I made a big booboo..I was buying bags of feed during Covid..not opened, not realizing they break down… any way to correct this with additives or toss… first thing in the morning is to check all dates…
I bought a couple extra bags, too. It's been stored in sealed buckets.. I'm giving them to DH to put out for the wildlife up at camp. He said he's seen turkeys up there

You might want to start a new thread to ask about this.

You might be able to feed some amount of new feed as well as some amount of old feed, or use the old feed with specific supplements, depending on what things are expected to change. I know a few that should not change (like the calcium level, or the total calories), but I don't know about which ones will.

Obviously, if your chickens are showing problems, consider buying a bag of fresh feed and see if the problems go away.

Honestly I am just going by what I've witnessed with us, I didn't even know it was conspiracy till after the fact. I feed organic feed & fermented feed all spring/summer/fall when October hit i switched to PP for cost reasons shortly after that we had 0-1eggs including brand new pullets stopped/not laying. I was shocked but didn't know there was a conspiracy about it I've had chickens for 4yrs this never happened before.
But I Switch to a local feed mill simply because it was cheaper, no other reason.
I got 100#bag of nongmo layer feed for $30 that was my reason for changing nothing else. 2 1/2 weeks later I was getting 6-8 eggs a day and here we are almost 45ish days later and I'm getting 18eggs a day.

I had 2 chickens in my basement for rehab i assumed eggs stopped because of injuries no eggs, they were part of the switched feed and they started laying again at the same time as the other hens except their daylight was still restricted/short but they are super warm the others had cold/warm/snow so can't blame the light/cold.
I honestly do not care, I switched feed and will stay switched because of costs. People can believe whatever they want it's not my job to convince or dismiss anyone's thoughts on the situation.
Everyone can live their lives how they want and feed their chickens how they want. It's none of my business and I'm certainly not going to make a big deal out of somebody else's opinion on this matter. There is clearly something going on, what exactly we're not sure, but I definitely do not trust big corporations.
Was the local feed higher in protein? Lysine or methionine? If so that would be the likely reason.Chicken can only synthesize a couple of amino acids,so all must come from feed/forage etc

I would buy it when I have a hen with reproductive issues and I dearly want her to stop while she heals. The option of hormone implants is around $600 USD every 4 to 6 months (based on the post I recently saw from a duck-mom) and that I don't have. (Unless I stop paying for the mortgage and the electric bill)
I was just reading and it appears the implants are now available for about $150 for a 3 month period..of course it depends on the vet but you might look around as thats a pretty decent difference

Depends on the state as well. Unfortunately they're not approved for poultry, so by law they are not allowed to be used in some states.

Try flax seed. It's supposed to lower testosterone in "old roosters" 🤣
Not sure about hens but raspberry leaves are fairly effective for mild to moderate cycle issues..no idea aboutother species except humans

Ah i am so used to livestock vetsusing products off label which is allowed federally if there isnot a licensed product for that use I ASSUMED that all states went by the federal regulation ..which i should hVave known that some states had more rigorousrules
