Feed & Water placement - What do you do, and why?

I have a large coop and 30 - 120week old chickens. They have a 42" wide trough feeder with hopper built from plywood and 2x4 that holds a little more than a 50# bag of feed. It lasts 7-8 days between fillings. Basically, I fill it every Saturday. Water is a 7 gallon standard waterer elevated off the ground about 6 inches. I fill that about every 3 days.

Chickens go into a trance at night and will not drink so they don't need water then. My only recommendation is to have them out of the way as possible so they are not taking up any unnecessary room that they could use to run around- like up against the side and not hanging in the middle
