Hello Everyone! I am new here and just returning to the world of chickens after a long absence......! like 30 years!

I intend to raise some birds for eggs and have the roos as fryers. I think I will try some Red Bros in the late summer for the freezer too. I have ordered-

10 Golden Comet Pullets
10 New Hampshire Pullets
5 Golden Laced Wyandotte Pullets

15 RIR SR
15 WPR SR

and lucky me, 25 free bonus chicks for ordering 50! The bonus chicks are supposed to be heavy variety, probably roos.

I ordered from Mt. Healthy as they are the nearest to me.

So, bottom line is, did I choose well with these breeds? I admit that pretty chickens were a factor as well as production!

Thank you all in advance, I look forward to learning from everyone.

I have a couple of gold laced wyans. They are pretty birds, nice heavy & fluffy. They lay nice sized brown eggs.

They are not the friendliest birds I have but are nice.

Don't have any personal experience on the others...

Thank you for the input! I am eagerly awaiting my "delivery" date of June 16. I am starting to dream about chickens. My poor husband.....

Whats WPR stand for? I forget some of the abreviations. And you did pick great breeds. The RIRs will lay great eggs if you get any pullets.

WPR is White Plymouth Rocks! I do hope that there are pullets in the RIR group. That is what we raised when I was a kid and they make good fryers too! Thank you for the welcome, I can't wait to get my chicks!
