In the Brooder
We live in Kauai and it's been a very wet year. I have a new flock, 7 chicks that are almost 8 weeks old. I have a run which is protected on the east side, which is where we get most of our wind/rain coming in. My current feeder is hanging under the roof eaves/overhang, but we are getting crazy wind and it's raining from all directions now. My 20# feeder was filled with water when I went to check on the girls this AM. Looked like I had 20# of cooked oatmeal for them.
What can i do for a feeding system which will allow for large quantity of feed, but can be protected from the rain.
I'm leaving town in a little over a week for 8 days and I have a friend coming to check on the girls, but i need something in place in case they "forget."
