feeder pics please

I actually just made two more the other day. I dont have pictures but will describe:

Home Depo Bucket and lid (about $6 for 2)
big metal feed pan from Farm and Home ($5 ish each)
bolts washers nuts (whatever size you have)
Drill with bit
Hole saw (goes on drill)

drill hole in middle of bottom of bucket and feed pan
drill big holes with hole saw every 4 inches or so all the way around bottom of bucket
connect pan to bucket with bolts and washers, tighten

clean out shaving from drilling

Fill with feed and you are done.

Cost about $16 ish for two large feeders and they last several years so far I have only had to replace a lid(.98c) here and there. I have 2 that I have had for at least 3-4 yrs. I love them!!

It depends on the size of the pipe. I made 2 4ft tall and the others are 2ft tall, if you fill them all the way I think I measured it could hold about 30lbs of feed, but I only fill about 1/4 so I can gauge how much the girls eat on a daily basis, but if you made them taller I'm sure 4 could hold 50lbs or more.

Here are my portable feeders. I can move them anywhere I need to. One of these feeders is about 5 feet long and the other feeder is about 4 feet long. They get to eat buffet style all day long. I also have some that are 1 feet long, 2 feet long and 3 feet long. It took maybe 30 minutes to make them. They are sturdy, so the animals don't tip them over. The chickens don't roost on them either. They are perfect for me. These were made from recycled wood.

ETA: The store bought feeders do not work for me being as though I have over 100 chickens, turkeys, ducks, etc., so I had to create what I thought would work best for my flock.

How in the world do you keep them from roosting on them? My chickens will roost on anything that they can get their bony little feet on!!!!

I have no idea. I guess because when we had the first feeder training meeting and I bought the frying pan and grease to the meeting, they got the message.

It's probably because they free range on about 1 acre of land and they are too busy doing other things and playing with their other toys to worry about roosting on that pitful little feeder.
