Feeding a Rooster

I start my chicks off on Purina Med Chick Starter for a month, then switch to Purina Flock Raiser (20%), adding a separate dish of Oyster Shells when the girls start laying. So much easier than feeding by "age/stage" .

Search in the Article Section, KikisGirls has a feed comparison chart going. I would put the link but have no clue how to do that, sorry.

Would you mind sharing some brand names of flock feed?
I have used both posted above. The Purina is 20% protein. Currently I am using the purina because I like tsc better than the place that carries the Nutrena. I am going to contact the local feed mills see if they have a flock feed and compare prices.

It's about $4 more here. I also feed ducks and chickens. Like I said the other store is not as convenient or as clean. The difference in price doesn't outweigh the service - in my opinion.

Can newborn chicks eat 'adult' crumble feed as in can they fit it through their beaks into digestive system? In case eggs are hatched and you are in a bind.

I am currently feeding a Non-Medicated Start & Grow 18% to my three 28 month old hens with Oyster Shells on the side. Why? Because I can get a 25# bag. A 40 or 50# bag goes bad before its used up.
My girls love the feed and the eggs are strong.
A Non-Medicated Starter-Grower and a All-Flock/Flock Raiser are similar except for Niacin and Protein. The Starter Grower may not have enough Niacin for ducks.
The All-Flock/Flock Raiser can also be found in Pellet form. My TSC carries two brands in Pellet form which is less wasteful than Crumbles. 20180824_173755.jpg

I have 7 Chicks in the Brooder. They are currently fed a Medicated Start & Grow.
After 10 weeks I will transition to a All-Flock Pellet for all.
My local TSC started to carry it a week or two ago. GC
