Feeding Bantams Layer Pellets?

I may try flock raiser of gamebird feed because I am now breeding birds and want them to stay in good condition. The Layena is great if your just feeding layers but I think Gamebird feed or flock raiser has more protien like 20% compared to 16%. What do you guys think it would probably have to be crumbles I will switch back if they waste alot. I don't live in an area with alot of feed stores so my options are basically limited to purina product.

Thanks,
Henry

My little bantams are not able to eat layer pellets, it won't fit in their beaks! Some of those pellets are big. My LF hens get pellets, my bantams get crumble.

I think I might get one bag of Crumble and one back of pellets I have gotten crumble before but my LF flock just scattered it around and wasted alot. Should I start feeding flock raiser to up the protien? or should I stick with the Layena? I think I might get flock raiser just to up protien as none of the girls are laying now and I can supplement with oyster shell. Thoughts?

As you know, Henry, Shadow runs with the big girls. She has no problems eating layer pellets. One brand I use has mini-pellets, which are perfect for bantams (Tucker Milling). Not sure if another brand has those mini's or not.

Ohh mini pellets sound really ideal. I don't know of anyone with any around here. I guess I will just have to wait and see what Nikki says about feeding.

Thanks everyone,
Henry

Ok so I am going to get one bag of crumbles tommorow just incase they need it and the LF flock will stay on Pellets. I tried crumbles before and my flock really seems to love them but they also waste them like crazy.

I know this is an old thread, but still have a question about this. Have a couple of 10-week-old bantams. They are wasting a lot of feed, despite having made a tray insert to go under the feed container (all the crumbles pretty much disintegrate into powder . . .). Am switching all the large fowl to pellets, but am hesitant about trying to switch these little ones. Not sure that they can digest it. Should I wait until they're older, or not try to give them pellets at all, or ??? Thanks!
