Tips for finding the perfect feed for your chickens please. My mom’s chickens keep getting deformed eggs and they’re young chickens. I have started feeding Purina Layer Chicken feed hoping it will help make normal eggs. I was feeding Layer feed from Tractor Supply. My usual to go is Dumor Chicken Feed but that just makes there egg yolks firm and give them a firm egg shell.

A lot of people on here (me included) give all-flock or chick starter with oyster shell on the side. That being said, new layers will take a while to get the hang of things and that’s perfectly normal. How old are her chickens?

Could you please explain your problem with firm yolks and firm shells? To me, that is a success.

You say they are young. How long have they been laying? Are you getting any regular eggs? How many deformed eggs are you getting? Could you post photos of your deformed eggs? That might help us more than anything.

My hope is that it is just start-up problems or that one pullet/hen is having issues, most posts like this are one of those. But it would be good to be sure.
