Since Starlings are a non-native species and many people trap and kill them, then give the dead Starlings to raptor facilities, I wonder if they could be a protein source for chickens?

Would disease be eliminated by butchering the bird and then freezing it for a time and then feeding it?

To me starlings are NASTY little buggers. I would not want my chickens eating them then knowing I am eating it also so to speak.
Also I now some disease will just go doment(sp?) in cold then resurface when it is warm again and I would be afaird that would happen to me.

I also look at it like this, I would not want to feed my chickens something that I myself woud not want to eat. ..

But like I said it is just me and I am funny about certian things.

I love my Starlings, they theive chicken food from time to time but I love all birds that come to my yard.

Do you need to feed them Starlings to up their food source?

What the heck is a Starling?
