I've read about chicken chicks and chickens being fed yogurt, but what for?
What's the use of it?

And can I feed it to my one/almost two week old quail chicks?
Anything that gives them a boost of health benefits I'm willing to try.

If I can feed them yogurt, must it be a specific brand/type?

Thanks in advance!
Sorry for these silly questions, I'm just curious about it! ^.^

Chickens are fed yogurt for the same reason that people should eat it: probiotics and the promotion of healthy bacteria in the digestive system. While their digestive systems are different and they do not have a stomach per say, their crops are filled with healthy bacteria that help with digestion and yogurt can help keep this bacteria in balance and prevent some sour crop issues.

I would feed a plain, natural yogurt that does not have any sugar or chemicals added. You can actually make it at home if you prefer.

You can also put a small amount of Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar into their water once a week or so and that will have similar health benefits.

i put ACV in their water fron day one. 2 tsp per qt of water. It helps their gut bacteria develop and try not to lose them from loose stools. I haven't lost any to the squirts since I started this.
