Hello out there! My 6 chicks (Barred Rock and Astralorp) are 7 weeks old. The feed store we bought them from told me to only give them their grain/chick feed till 11 weeks, but these girls are so busy, inquisitive (and pecking at everything - my hands! arms/jumping toward my face!) I'm wondering if I should give them a little change of pace...

from Ohio. Do they have food 24/7? All the pecking sounds like they are hungrey. They are old enough to be put on a grower ration now until they reach laying age. You could give thems some treats like oatmeal, alfalfa sprouts, and yogurt. Good luck.

Yes, I agree. Start by mixing the chick feed and grower together for a couple of weeks then all grower. Sounds like you are having fun with your pullets!

thanks! would you do any fruit yet? They really do have food available 24/7... not sure why they are so "pecky".
