Feeding Cooked Eggs

There is “chick grit” and “chicken grit”. Both are granite bits. The chick size is appropriate for little ones. Sand will just pass on through and will not grind any food.

One main treat m flock gets is wet feed. Just feed with water added, and maybe a bit of scrambled/cooked egg or a few small seeds sprinkled on top. This way they get a “treat” but still get their correct balanced feed. Personally, I wouldn’t feed much in the way of treats until they are older bc they are growing rapidly and need the protein and vitamins in the feed for their raid growth. Most treats have no to very low protein so then their overall protein consumption falls below what it should be.

Your chicks are hardwired to fear many things bc they are prey animals. Happily, they will get used to you and once they begin to lay, usually calm down quite a bit and are markedly more friendly. So, just your presence with them and gentle handling of them is good!
I feed my girls wet feed too - they think it's a "treat" & I'm happy that I'm not detracting from their diet. Chickens don't overeat, so anything given besides their properly balanced feed is just diluting their diet.
