Hey guys. I got some chicks today. 2 of them are... less than a week old I’m not sure exactly but they’re really tiny. The other chick is 3 weeks old.
I had placed a same day delivery order to tractor supply this morning before picking them up for some chick starter. I waited so long and never goT it, the stores all closed early since it’s Sunday and no on else sells it. I’ll get some tomorrow morning.
They were all screaming for food and so hungry so I ran to the grocery store and got them some organic cornmeal Which they happily accepted. I have no chick grit or a way to get any until tomorrow morning. Is that okay or are they going to get sick and die?? I’m really nervous the youngest 2 are so tiny. I can’t find much info on this anywhere? I can definitely get them some grit in the morning but I’m not sure if that’s too long to wait..

Cornmeal is usually ground pretty fine, so it's probably fine without grit tonight.

Scrambled egg is a great food for chicks. If you have to choose just one food for chicks in an emergency, scrambled egg is probably the best.

Whole wheat bread could also be a reasonable addition to the "emergency" diet (don't go buy it for the purpose, but if you already have some, you could rip a small amount into tiny pieces for them.) Because everything in it is finely ground and even cooked, they should not need grit to digest it either.
