Feeding crushed egg shells for calcium?

How fine do you crush the egg shells?

The shells below are baked and I would like to know if they need to be smaller.

When I feed them egg shells, I crush it so where it's the same size or smaller than the daily feed I give them and sprinkle them in.

I don't crush. I don't bake. I crack the egg and toss the halves in a bowl, then toss them on the floor of the run. The hens' beaks can easily tear apart an egg shell and I've not had a hen eat an egg from eating shells in this manner in 20 years of keeping chickens.
