Thanks for all the great advise!! Since I last posted one of my ducks has layed 3 eggs!! not sure which one layed them...she is laying them all over the coop! will she move them all together when she is ready to sit? also I have 5 bantem chickens...2 females and 3 roosters...they all get along great but everyone is telling me that i need to get rid of 2 of the roosters! this will break my heart..they are very friendly and love to sit on my shoulder! i would love to insert a picture but not sure how to!

Thanks Miss Lydia! The bantems are only 6 months old...how long before they are sexually active?? I will def get more hens...question is..do they have to be bantems? or can i get other breeds? My ducks are Giant Pekins.

I hope you'll come join us on the duck thread, alot of BYCers have pekins. you don't have to get bantams for your roos but if you get Large fowl you might have a problem I'm having, I have bantam roos and 6 Large fowl hens which my roos can't mate with because they are so large and these guys are too short. lol. so it's something to think about. My LF's are Brahmas and Orpingtons so maybe go with a breed in between these girls are really big.. Forgot to say your roos should start to become sexually active anytime now. once they start to crow is when it begins..

they have been crowing for about 5 weeks now! no eggs yet...unless they are laying around the yard!!
