Feeding fish to chickens

So good to know! My dad bought a whole salmon and had it butchered, but kept the bones and bits for the chickens. I figured it was ok since many birds live almost exclusively on raw fish, but just wanted to double check since domesticated chickens aren't exactly osprey. Sounds like they're going to love it!

Thats funny, I was just about to post and say that my chickens eat every fish but bluegil. I boil them for a few minutes and blend them in an old blender, then they eat them.

My hens eat all fish except whiting, they thinks it's a snake. We brought some spots back and they loved them. So did my dog

I have a spring and was thinking about catching minnows to feed my chickens. They don't get to free range because of hawks. I keep building more runs for them but they clean the ground up pretty quickly. I have bought watermelons and cantaloupes for them. I have a freezer full of fruits and vegetables that we didn't eat and is too old now. I have tried feeding some of it to them but they don't seem to care for any of it. Maybe it is because of freezer burn? Got off the subject here. I read that feeding fish to your chickens can make the eggs taste fishy. Has anyone had any experience with that . Also read about raising crickets. Seems pretty easy. Has anyone on here tried that? The thought of raising meal worms makes my flesh crawl because I can't stand to look at the dried ones much less live ones crawling around. I just want my two chickens to have more to eat than just laying mash.

My chickens were picky eaters once. You need to let there feeder run empty. Sometimes it seems the have to get hungry enough to work up the courage to try new things. There are few things mine will not eat..carrots get eaten but it is the last thing to go. Anything with protein is a favoured. Like cheese, eggs, meat.

Muscovy ducks love minnows goldfish tadpoles and anything that moves in their water. I would like to try raw fish for the chickens, but I do have one question. I always cook salmon very well before giving it to my dogs because flukes in the salmon can be deadly to dogs. Does anyone know if they're dangerous for chickens
