Feeding Hornworms to Chickens.

So someone on my town Facebook page posted that they had some hornworms their spider didn’t eat and wanted to know if anyone had a pet that would eat them. I replied and picked them up. They are blue and google tells me that they are tobacco hornworms, can I feed them to my chickens?

Edit: Just asked the lady I got them from and she said she feeds them a special pre-made food, so I think they will be okay for the chickens.

I've fed my chickens hornworms that i find on my tomato plant, I do it each year and nobody has died yet, so it should be fine.Don't know why those are blue though.

Well they grabbed one worm and ate it, but are more interested in the food cubes the worms came with.

Wow those are BLUE. I can't help but giggle at "her spider didn't eat them" - even the spider was probably thinking "Why are they so blue?"

I think the vivid blue is what threw the chickens off from eating them.

These types of hornworms are bred for reptiles, hence why they're so blue (product of breeding). They're no different from the wild kind and are perfectly safe!
