Feeding Layers Mash to Baby Chicks for a couple of days

I'm likely receiving a couple of 5 day old chicks tomorrow. Could I feed them my layers mash until I could get to the farm store to buy growers feed?

It should be fine for a day or two, but get the starter as soon as you can. Layer has too much calcium and can cause problems down the line so you don't want to have them on it any longer then you have to.
