I was reading in my chicken book from the library that you can feed milk/soured milk to your chickens?? Is that true? Is it more of a "treat" or something you could feed everyday as part of their ration? I am getting chickens in a week or so and come May, my milking goat is going to kid, so i'll have fresh goat milk from her I could feed the chickens. Are you suppose to feed it straight from the tap or sour it first?? Thanks!

I think you can feed it any way you like. I've fed my chickens EVERYTHING. Probably some things they aren't supposed to eat. No one has ever gotten sick from what they've eaten. I can tell what they don't like. They don't eat it. Others will let you know what's off limits, but my chickens don't seem to have any.

I have read about people feeding milk and corn to finish off birds for slaughter. Feeding milk is done quite bit, going to try it myself one of these days. But I will go with buttermilk and fermented corn. I do use buttermilk to make my fermented feed now.
