Has anyone here ever fed their quail pecans, mainly green pecans? I have an excess amount of green pecans in my trees and I'm sure that my birds could eat them was just wondering about how small I should grind them up or if I need to wait until they drop from the trees before trying to feed them. Also I am curious as to what other people who have a large amount of birds feed them. I have about 80 grown birds all the time and around the same amount of chicks, I raise them for meat. My grown birds go through 20+ lbs of food a day.. How could a normal person afford to feed that many birds if paying around $13 a bag for feed? I assume people buy in bulk or something. My family and friends are all farmers so I feed my birds milo which I get in bulk straight from the fields and mix it 50/50 with high protein game bird feed. Was just curious in case I run out of feed before the next harvest. Thanks for any info.
