Every time my hubby goes fishing he always catches some small ones, and I know my chickens absolutely adore fish scraps. Can I hang onto the small fish and throw them in with the chickens??? Or do they need to be skinned, scaled, gutted, whatever??? Is there a problem with feeding raw fish??? Do I need to worry about them getting too much protien??? Thanks everyone!!!

I grind up the fish in one of those old style meat grinders that you attach to a table and crank the handle. This seems to cut down on the fighting and they clean it up better. Not only does dead fish laying around stink, it brings in the predators. Never put out more than they can clean up in a half an hour.

I've been feeding minnows and black perch to my birds for a long time..especially to those that don't lay up to par. Don't worry about the protein..it's very good for them. The fish is terrific for the amino acids they need..and the oils..wow..will make them shine up like a new copper penny! I just throw them to them whole..no biggie.

I offered my chicks part of my tuna fish sandwich this weekend and they were in heaven. Will have to be careful about making them into the infamous Pig Chickens.
